About Us

At MP Legal and Compliance, we provide expert legal consulting, litigation support, and strategic regulatory compliance services across South Africa. We fight in our clients' corners, helping everyday consumers and growing businesses navigate complex legal challenges—including the debt review and debt exit processes. We are looking for an experienced, empathetic, and strictly compliant Debt Counsellor to join our growing team.

Role Responsibilities

Conduct formal assessments of consumers' financial circumstances to determine over-indebtedness.

Draft, negotiate, and implement sustainable debt restructuring proposals with credit providers.

Prepare comprehensive legal documents and recommendations for the Magistrate's Court regarding debt restructuring and reckless credit agreements.

Issue statutory clearance certificates for consumers who have successfully met their restructuring obligations.

Maintain strict compliance with the National Credit Act (NCA) and all National Credit Regulator (NCR) guidelines.

Mandatory Requirements

Must be officially registered as a Debt Counsellor with the National Credit Regulator (NCR) and possess a valid NCR registration number.

Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate or equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification.

A certified Debt Counselling Certificate from an NCR-accredited training provider.

Minimum of 2 years working experience in consumer protection, legal/paralegal services, financial services, or complaints resolution.

Must have a clear criminal record and not be subject to an Administration Order or under Debt Review yourself.

Excellent negotiation, administration, and client communication skills.

Ability to work effectively and independently in a fully remote work environment (reliable internet connection and a quiet workspace are required).
